Harry has enjoyed a fantastic summer of tennis in Australia. He has posted some career best results and it puts him in great stead for the coming year. It started in December at the 18u Australian Hardcourt Championships at Melbourne Park were he was a finalist in both the singles and doubles. The singles was a tough fought match but in the end going down to Brad Mousley 6-3 7-5. The doubles was a similar fate. Harry and his partner Akira Santillan went down 2-6 6-4 10-8 to Mitchell Harper and Jade Jaede. These great results gave him the opportunity to play in the Australian Open Wild Card Playoff again at Melbourne Park. Harry went down to talented Ben Mitchell first round, this proved to be a great learning experience and really gave him some strong motivation for a 4 week training block. He spent this training block at home in Hobart with coach Simon Youl and family, before tackling the Australian Open Juniors.

Harry made his second appearance at the Australian Open Juniors and he was keen to improve on last years tough first round loss to South African 7th seed Wayne Montgomery in three tough sets. Harry did just that. With the hometown support of many friends and family harry excited the fans by blistering into the round of 16 before going down in a marathon match to Russian 10th seed Andrey Rublev 7-5 6-7 (7) 14-12. The match went well over three hours and Harry saved 10 match points before falling to the Russian. Harry was very please with his performance and it has given him the confidence to take on the year ahead.

After the Australian Open harry headed back to his home state, Tasmanian, to play in the Burnie Challenger. The ITF Futures and ATP Challenger circuit is going to be a focus of Harry’s in 2014 as he makes the transition from the juniors to seniors. Harry again had some quality wins, winning through the qualifying rounds before going down in the first round of main draw to Japan’s Yuichi Ito 1-6 6-3 6-4. The tour then took him on to the West Lakes Challenger in Adelaide where we was awarded a wild card in to the main draw. Harry made the most of this opportunity and won his first round match again 8th seed Australian, Greg Jones, winning 6-4 6-4 before going down in the second round to Australian, Maverick Banes, 7/6 (2) 7/6 (4). These two challenges has given Harry valuable ATP ranking points putting him at a career high of 957. Harry is also currently ranked 30 for ITF juniors.

Harry is currently at home in Hobart training for a three week tour in Asia starting in March were his will compete in three ITF juniors tournaments.
